If truth is to be known, a paralegal does not have to be a graduate of a paralegal course to become one. There are many people who are now paralegals but used to be a teacher, a housewife, doctor, business owner, secretary, accountant, nurse and even lawyers.

One enrols in one of the paralegal courses that are available these days to give them the basic know-how, training that is expected of them when they become hired to become as one.

The basic requirements of becoming a paralegal are the following: Keen interest in the law is always a prerequisite. He or she should always be curious. Good communication skills are also important in becoming a good paralegal. And of course, the other traits such as being dependable, responsible, has good decision making skills and dedication to the tasks assigned to them is always a must.

Those who are interested in enrolling in one of the paralegal courses should already be a graduate of a 4-year college degree. So those who do not have one yet, should go and get themselves one. Although not all schools require this but it is always best to have it. Remember that the trouble that you will be going thru now is worth it in the end when you are already practicing your paralegal career and earning those big bucks.
