A Guide To Accredited
Paralegal Schools
Before you begin to pick the school that is right for you,
you want to check out their background a bit. Are they
accredited? Most schools are.
Write A Movie
Writing a movie is an interesting concept and you can enjoy doing this as well as spend lots of time. You can even get paid for this, should you take it up professionally.
This means that when you attend their classes, their credits
usually become universal and applicable to other universities.
This also means it is a legitimate school. Believe it or not
there are a number of schools out there that will take your
money and you will end up with a very expensive, worthless
piece of paper hanging on your wall that nobody will take
seriously. Researching every school you consider attending is
one of the most important and easily overlooked step to
starting a new career.
Counselors will usually speak to you about your short and
long term educational goals before you fill out a schools
application. You will want to ask them questions about the
history of the school, what they offer you in terms of
guaranteed credits and transferable credits, and their
accreditation. Depending on where you live, you might want to
ask if you complete their course of study, will that transfer
from state to state or country to country as well. It would do
you no good to get a certificate or degree in Oklahoma only to
find out it isn't valid in the state of California.
Most legitimate schools will have websites that show all the
accreditations and also have links about their background,
graduate success stories and information on all the faculty.
You need to make sure you are being taught by a real teacher
also. The best schools to become a paralegal at have licensed
attorneys as their main base of instructors. What better way to
learn the ins and outs of the legal system than to be taught by
an attorney.
There isn't a high survival rate for schools that aren't
accredited so as long as you choose a school you have heard
about for years such as "University of Phoenix" or some other
school that has run ads for very long times, you should have
nothing to worry about. Be wary of "Bob's paralegal school" or
something that just doesn't sound quite right to you and you
should do just fine. A good school will want accreditation as
it shows their potential students that they meet the standards
of a typical school and will give you the programs and services
they promise.
