Online Paralegal
Convenience Or Just Good Value?
Paralegals are a good place to start for someone who is
considering hiring a lawyer. A paralegal is the "right hand
man" to the lawyer and usually does a lot of work for them
behind the scenes.
The paralegal does a great deal of paperwork, conducts
interviews, and prepares cases for the lawyer. Chances are if
you make an appointment with a law firm or private lawyer, you
will meet with their paralegal first. They will gather all your
information and pass it along to the laywer. This is a good
thing because the pay rates for lawyers can be very high and if
it ends up you don't actually need a lawyer, you have only paid
a small amount for the services of the paralegal.
Paralegals are in most law firms, corporate legal areas, and
government offices and can be reached by making an appointment
with them. In today's internet era, you should be able to look
up and deal with a paralegal mostly through your computer
instead of meeting face to face. This will save everyone a lot
of time and can easily fit into your schedule. If you live far
from the nearest city, this might be your best option as you
won't have to fight traffic or commute miles and miles just to
fill out some forms. The paralegal should be able to do this
online and through online faxing.
There are many online services available now that can put
you in contact with lawyers and paralegals. You will want to
research them completely before sending out your credit card
information however. The internet isn't always an honest place
so discretion is advised. You should get some testimonials from
prior clients, references, find out where they went to school
and if they are certified to handle your particular questions
or cases.
It is highly recommended to speak to a paralegal before a
lawyer but you have to keep in mind they aren't allowed to
offer actual legal advice. They can however help you file
paperwork you can't do yourself and help you to determine if
you actually need a lawyers assistance with your case or
problem. They are very beneficial and much cheaper than lawyers
so you should always speak to one of them first unless you know
for certain your issue needs a lawyer to resolve it.
